meet the artists

Lucy Bundy (the blonde)

One quarter of the Vogueabonds, Lucy is also a busy girl with her award-winning solo project Fake Bush (an affectionate, comic salute to Kate Bush), and as a comedy compère for numerous seedy cabaret joints and debauched festivals. Lucy curates and programmes the theatre and entertainments for Beachdown Festival, and is proud to present The Swinging Salami Showcase Spectacular (a review-style show) at festivals across the land. Lucy lives in Hove, with a view of the sea from her attic flat, and is more than partial to a cup of Earl Grey, or glass of Argentinean Pinot Noir, depending on the hour. Her middle name is Josephine, and she is a Capricorn.

Barbara Longley (the brunette)

A woman of mystery of Venezuelan descent, Barbara denies claims that she is the re-incarnation of Mata Hari. Following a successful career as a child, she quickly found herself drawn to countries growing pineapples and mangoes, her favourite things. An experienced medical doctor, musicologist and professional actress, she has traded her wares in far-flung places such as Singapore, Senegal and Sweden. Good at: eating biscuits in beds. Bad at: not spending money. Most likely to end up: making Buddhist prayer cushions.

Nicola Dane (the redhead)

Nicola suffers (oh the humanity!) from an outgushing of creativity. Actor, singer, writer, painter and violinist. She came to acting via Forensic Psychology (in jumped-up jailor roles) and encaustic (wax) painting, the highlight being exhibiting at the Manchester Art Show. These days she dabbles at the canvas and scratches away at the fiddle in rare moments squeezed in between theatre, film and, of course, The Vogueabonds. Most recently Nicola performed some Alan Bennett: “Nicola Dane also made three classic Bennett characters her own: the redoubtable Mrs Hopkins from Me, I'm Afraid of Virginia Woolf, the unwitting foot masseur Miss Fozzard and The Lady in the Van herself, Miss Shepherd” (The Argus). She's also been known to do comedy improv (ahem). She lives next to the sea and loves nothing better than to throw herself in in all weathers, is a chocolate connoisseur and is hopeless with plants. Animal type: snuffleupagus

Christopher Dickins (the fella)

Chris can be held responsible for assembling the Vogueabonds, an offence which took place in the early months of 2008. An actor, singer, pianist, composer, writer, director, and all-round smug bastard, Chris took a law degree before converting to theatre at the Guildford School of Acting. A chaotic career then began, taking him to the West End on at least four occasions, as well as glamorous hotspots in regional theatre and on national and international tours. He has written various musicals, including several for Bath’s Natural Theatre Company, and, with lyricist Ralph Oswick, wrote songs and clunky skits for their 2005 BBC Radio 4 show One Lump or Two? He specialises in playing men in uniform and is no relation to the great novelist Monica.
